Pigeon Rocks

The two sea stacks stand just off Raouche’s limestone coast and are clearly visible from the Corniche. The view, the Mediterranean and the evening light are the main experience.

Use established viewpoints and keep back from unprotected cliff edges and informal paths.

Combine the viewpoint with a walk along the Corniche. Early morning is quieter, while late afternoon often brings softer light over the sea.

The rocks are a short viewpoint stop rather than a full day’s attraction. Combine them with time in Raouche, a meal or a chosen stretch of the Corniche; Hamra and other Beirut neighbourhoods can form a separate part of the day.

Traffic and road crossings can be more awkward than the walking distance suggests. Choose your drop-off and collection point carefully, especially with children or a pushchair.

For photographs, look for a clear view from the public seafront and remain behind any barriers. Late light can be attractive, but wind, haze and cloud change the scene; an evening visit is not a guarantee of a clear sunset.

Seeing the rocks from land does not require a boat trip. If considering an independently arranged boat outing, check the operator, safety equipment, weather, boarding point and price before committing. Do not use informal cliff paths to get closer to the water.
