Stay in Jounieh

Jounieh works for time around the bay and visits towards Harissa and Jeita when access permits. Choose between being close to the old streets and waterfront, a larger coastal property or a hillside setting; those locations offer different walking access.

A hillside panorama may involve steep roads and a car for every meal. Ask about the route to restaurants, parking and traffic noise. If most days are in Beirut, the coastal commute can outweigh an attractive room rate.

Stay in Byblos

Byblos works well for a walkable historic centre, harbour evenings and a slower pace. It is a practical choice for one or two nights on a coastal itinerary, with restaurants and the archaeological site close together.

Stay in Batroun

Batroun is strongest for swimming, beach clubs, restaurants and lively summer weekends. Accommodation ranges from small guesthouses in and around the old town to coastal properties farther out.

Weekends and summer events can raise prices and noise levels, so check the exact location and recent reviews.

Stay in Tripoli

Tripoli gives more time for the old souks, Mamluk architecture and the waterfront district of El Mina. The hotel choice is smaller than in Beirut, but an overnight stay avoids turning the north into a rushed day trip.

Stay in Bsharri and the mountains

A mountain stay suits travellers planning walks, cedar reserves, Qadisha Valley or winter activities. Distances look short, but steep roads and seasonal conditions make an overnight base valuable.

Confirm heating, backup electricity, road access and whether restaurants remain open outside the busiest season.

Stay in Zahle and the Bekaa Valley

A city stay, a rural guesthouse and a property outside a winery are different bases. Confirm evening meal options and arrange a driver in advance if wine tasting is part of the visit.

Hotel, serviced apartment or resort?

Hotels are convenient for short stays and assistance with transfers. Serviced apartments can suit longer visits or families who want more space, while coastal and mountain resorts are usually chosen for their facilities and setting.

Check what is actually included: breakfast, cleaning, pool or beach access, parking and backup power should never be assumed from the property category alone.

Power, water and internet: questions for the property

Ask what backup electricity actually powers and during which hours. A working light does not establish that a lift, air conditioning, heating, a water pump or a fridge will run throughout an interruption.

If you need dependable internet for work, ask about the connection in the room, recent outages and a mobile-data fallback. For an apartment, confirm who can help outside reception hours and how to enter during a power cut.

Ask before committing

• Are drinking water and hot water supplied, and are any charges additional?
• Does the quoted rate include taxes, cleaning, breakfast and any pool or beach entry?
• Is the advertised parking on site, reserved or a separately charged valet service?
• Can the property confirm heating or air conditioning for the season of your stay?
• Which currency will be charged, and is cash required for any balance or deposit?

Prices, booking and recent reviews

Rates vary sharply by season, area, events and payment terms. Compare the final price rather than the first figure shown, including taxes, breakfast and other charges.

Choose flexible cancellation where possible and confirm whether the final amount is charged in USD, LBP or another currency. Read recent reviews for power, water, cleanliness and noise, then keep the booking reference and hotel address offline.

Family rooms and accessible accommodation

For families, confirm the actual beds rather than relying on a room’s maximum occupancy. Ask about cots, connecting rooms, kitchen equipment, balcony barriers and supervision around pools. A quiet room and a nearby meal option can matter more than a large resort.

For step-free access, describe your requirements and ask the property to confirm the whole route: vehicle drop-off, entrance threshold, lift, bedroom doorway and bathroom. Request current photographs or measurements where necessary, including shower access and grab rails.

If a lift or medical device is essential, confirm backup power and an emergency plan. Labels such as accessible, family friendly or beach access do not tell you whether the particular room and route meet your needs.

One base or a split stay?

For three days, one base usually preserves more useful time than packing and moving. For a week, Beirut plus one coastal or mountain base can reduce backtracking if current conditions allow that route.

Count nights carefully: a late arrival and early departure do not create two sightseeing days. Keep the final night practical for your flight, and avoid moving to a remote property simply to add another place to the itinerary.

For a mountain stay, check whether meals, heating and road access are available on your dates. A property that suits a summer weekend can feel very different outside its main season.
